Saving Lives In Emergencies

   Blood means to those who need it, from critically ill newborns to trauma victims. At the Red Cross, such lifesaving work wouldn't be possible without the volunteers who give over 6 million units of blood annually. as steward of half the U.S. blood supply, our top priority is enhancing the safety and availability of blood and related products for patients nationwide. Our biomedical research is making major contributions to blood safety, transfusion technology and plasma therapeutics to treat disease.
